Specifications include, but are not limited to:providing seed for WMA prairie restorations must provide seed only of ecotypes native to Minnesota, and preferably of the local ecotype, using a high diversity of species originating from as close to the restoration site as possible. All quantities listed indicate the amount of Pure Live Seed required. Seed purchased for WMA restoration maybe randomly tested for seed germ and species diversity. The sites for this seed order are located within the MN River North seed collection and deployment zone (see attached map). The "ideal" sources for seed are from the counties within this zone. If no seed for a given species is available from within this zone, the adjacent zones are less than ideal but still preferred sources for seed. These "preferred" zones include Prairie Coteau, MN River South, Big Woods Anoka, Hardwood Hills, and Red River South. Seed from the zones adjacent to these zones is acceptable if no closer options are available.These "acceptable" zones include South East Bluffland, Mille Lacs Uplands, Chippewa Plans, and Red River North.
