Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Konza Prairie Biological Station (KPBS) is located on a 3,487 hectare native tallgrass prairie preserve jointly owned by The Nature Conservancy and Kansas State University (KSU). KPBS is located approximately 10 miles southwest of Manhattan, Kansas. KPBS is operated as a field research station by the KSU Division of Biology. AB-3 aggregate and 1-1/4 road rock are two common generic descriptions of gravel used on KPBS roads. Both are quarry limestone products. AB-3 crushed limestone aggregate shall be approximately 3/4 topsize with about 8 20 % fines retained on a #200 sieve. It is used as a binder over other road rock such as 1-1/4 or 2 road rock. Estimated usage is 200 tons. Aggregate AB-3 shall meet Subsection 1105 of the Kansas Department of Transportation Standard Materials Specifications for State Road and Bridge Construction, Edition of 1990. 1-1/4 crushed limestone road rock shall be 1-1/4 topsize with about 3 6 % fines retained on a #200 sieve. Estimated usage is 1000 tons. The contractor will be required to furnish to Kansas State University proof of Public Liability, Property Damage and Workmans Compensation Insurance prior to commencement of work
