Specifications include, but are not limited to:2.01 As defined by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, the Tulsa Fire Department is a small quantity generator of regulated medical waste and pharmaceuticals that are in need of proper disposal. 2.02 The waste that is generated at individual fire stations is routinely collected by the Fire Department and collectively staged at Tulsa Fire Department Physical Resources, 1790 Newblock Park Drive, Tulsa, OK 74127. 2.03 Prior to collection by the successful Bidder, the Fire Department will have placed materials such as medical gloves and similar materials in two or more red biohazard bags that are then placed into an approved cardboard box that is labeled as a biohazard. 2.04 Sharps are placed into puncture proof plastic containers at the fire stations. Sealed shut, the containers are then placed inside a sealed bag that is placed inside an approved cardboard box that is labeled as a biohazard. 2.05 Though it has not been established as an accepted practice, the Fire Department wishes to develop a program with the successful Bidder to appropriately gather, package and discard expired, obsolete or unwanted pharmaceuticals. The Fire Department will solicit input and suggestions from the successful Bidder. 2.06 The Fire Department is responsible for the decontamination of personnel and equipment that are subject exposure to patients that produce class A infectious waste. In such an event, all materials will be placed into at least two liquid proof bags and then placed in an over-pack drum that will be labeled as a biohazard. The drum will then be isolated at the scene until such time that arrangement can be made with the successful Bidder, or other service provider, to further secure, collect, document, produce the appropriate PHMSA permits, and then transport to an appropriate disposal site for appropriate treatment or incineration. 2.07 The successful Bidder will collect the regulated medical waste and pharmaceuticals from 1790 Newblock Park Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma at a frequency of no less than monthly.
