Specifications include, but are not limited to: The subject dredging area is positioned in the southernmost portion of Salter Creek, which provides boater access from a N.C. Wildlife Ramp to Nelson Bay, and eventually into Core Sound if vessels continue progressing southward. It is a readily accessible, public waterway that can be accessed off a road leading to the N.C. Wildlife Ramp at the intersection of Hwy70 and Hwy 12 at the base of the high rise bridge that crosses Salters Creek itself. The channel reach is ~1,625 feet long by 30 feet wide, with a base channel depth of -4 feet relative to normal water level (NWL).The proposed dredging maintenance event entails the dredging and disposal of ~1,300 cubic yards of material via bucket and barge to restore the authorized depth of -4 feet NW Lacross the entire channel reach. An upland disposal site has been identified approximately 2.5 miles northeast of Salters Creek near the intersection of Hwy 12 and Old Cedar Island Road and the project will be constructed under the auspices of CAMA Major Permit #41-19.
