Specifications include, but are not limited to: Civil and Environmental Engineering shall purchase a small scaled mechanical testing system to observe the sample deformation progress under the aforementioned SEM. The purpose of the testing system is to conduct tensile and compressive testing at room and elevated temperatures, as well as bending and fatigue. The material testing method shall comply with the American Society Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifications. The unit to be purchased that is described herein must be compatible with the existing SEM model at LSU, which is described above. The unit must perform tensile, compressive, bending and fatigue tests with load frame maximum capacity shall be no less than 4000 N and linear resolution as low as 1 micrometer per count and data acquisition rate up to 1 kHz. An additional smaller load cell up to 450 N must be provided. Supplier must also provide a heater unit (built in or separate) for heating the sample with maximum heating temperature must be no less than 1000oC. Dual cross head movement must be provided in order to keep the target point centered under the electron detector.Raw test data and results must have the ability to be exported in standard formats (csv, .pdf, .jpg).Strains up to 50%. Testing specimen dimensions must be (Length x Width x Thickness) up to 50 mm x 10mm x 1.5 mm.
