Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: Persimmon Grove Project located in Cullman County near the Crane HillCommunity (approximately +/- 30 Acres) refer to attached project maps. ThePersimmon Grove AML Reclamation project would consist of reclaiming adangerous highwall and four impoundments left from previous coal miningactivities. The dangerous highwall is approximately three thousand, six hundred(3,600) feet in length and averages approximately thirty-five (35) feet in height.The project would encompass approximately thirty (30) acres, all of which wouldbe potentially disturbed for reclamation activities and access to the project site.The project site would be reclaimed by using onsite spoil material to backfill thedangerous highwall and impoundments.Various erosion control best management practices (BMPs) such as riprap checkdams, silt fencing, erosion control blanket, sediment control logs, detention pondsand other devices would be utilized during construction to prevent erosion andcontrol sediment. Site specific erosion control BMPs would be used to controlsediment onsite and prevent any impact to the adjoining drainageways downstreamof the project site. All erosion control BMPs would be installed prior to gradingactivities and maintained and/or replaced during all construction activities.The Contractor would grade, backfill and improve the existing access road asneeded for his equipment, rock trucks and personnel. Corrugated plastic pipeswould be installed at the entrance of the access road that connects to CullmanCounty Road 105 as needed to convey stormwater. The Contractor would alsoinstall a construction exit pad, which is a layer of ALDOT No. 24 and No. 57 stone,for a length of one hundred (100) feet from the connection to County Road 105 toprevent mud and debris from being tracked onto the paved roadway surface.
