Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Division for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs (DCYSHN) in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition (BFHN), is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to get stakeholder input on the revised Standards of Operation (Standards) for the Pediatric Palliative Care Network (PPCN).DPH will be releasing a Request for Response (RFR) that will fund licensed hospice agencies across Massachusetts to provide comprehensive, community-based pediatric palliative care services. This RFR will use the PPCN Standards as the basis for service delivery and to convey core BFHN values.The Pediatric Palliative Care Network provides services to children (perinatal to age 19) living with life-limiting illnesses and their families. The PPCN seeks to improve the quality of life of the entire family through PPCN services which include but are not limited to: nursing consultation for pain and symptom management; extensive case management; social services; spiritual care; child life specialist services; music therapy; other integrative therapies such as art therapy and massage;[footnoteRef:1] volunteer support; short-term respite care; advance care planning; and bereavement services. The PPCN is a payor of last resort; only services not covered by other programs or third-party payors are reimbursed. [1: With the exception of music therapy, which is required by all PPCN programs, integrative therapies may differ across programs.]
