Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: administer an individual bird banding station following the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) Program. This program was initiated in 1989 by The Institute for Bird Populations (IBP) to assess and monitor population dynamics of North American landbirds. MAPS utilizes constant-effort mist netting and banding at a network of over 500 monitoring stations throughout North America, and the data are used to evaluate temporal and spatial patterns in the vital rates of avian species and to investigate the relationship between these patterns and population trends, landscape-level habitat characteristics, and weather variables. Vendor shall obtain all federal and state permits to deploy standard MAPS protocol, follow all required data entry and reporting procedures/requirements, recruit and train volunteers, provide statistical data analysis, and an annual report.
