Specifications include, but are not limited to: Background Project Assessment: Evaluate Previous Work to Identify and Assess Soft Targes and Crowded Places VenuesResearch grant opportunities to enhance the outreach project Outreach: Conduct outreach to a minimum of 50 soft target and crowded places venues to help them increase their preparedness and connect them to the KCRFC, and provide basic information to their personnel to know when and how to report suspicious activity and to be aware of the resources available to help them to increase their readiness Regularly meet with event planners in the region and be familiar with permitting requirements in different jurisdictions throughout and document outcomesIdentify what protective measures are already in place at the 50 venues, such as assessments conducted, staff trained, etc.Ongoing Assessment:Maintain a list of special event threat assessments (SETAs) completed and catalog special events to ensure they are appropriately assigned and handled Maintain a list of venues and events to ensure contact information and event awareness is knownDevelop a regional baseline set of security standards and guidelines based on best practicesParticipate in the Homeland Security Information Networks Special Event Working Group for both Kansas and Missouri and ensure that events within the region are entered with accurate data into the National Special Events DatabaseDevelop situational awareness of special events coming to the area of responsibility in concert with local law enforcement Training/Presentations:Conduct training for area groups and associations to harden targets (i.e. Greater Kansas City Hotel and Lodging Association)Conduct overview and awareness presentations to the community at key venues and associations Conduct train-the-trainer opportunities deliver initial trainings then provide follow up with web-based training Work with the Department of Homeland Security Protective Security Advisors regarding special events and critical infrastructure
