Infection Control Services

Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.2.1 The contractor shall design and develop a systematic and effective method of clinical surveillance in orderto monitor instances of nosocomial infection.;3.2.2 The contractor shall consult with the Department regarding the prevention and control of infection andcommunicable diseases.;3.2.3 The contractor shall conduct rounds on a weekly basis and as specified by the Department nursing unit inorder to gather data on consumers and new admissions with nosocomial infections.;3.2.4 The contractor shall check all necropsy reports to determine if undiagnosed infection(s) were noted in suchreports.;3.2.5 The contractor shall participate as a member of the Departments committee responsible for infectioncontrol. The department estimates, but cannot guarantee that three (3) hours of participation will berequired on a monthly basis. In addition, the contractor may be required to participate on otherDepartment committees in order to supply data regarding infection control services on a quarterly basis.;3.2.6 The contractor shall coordinate and conduct infectious disease surveillance activities in accordance withthe policies and procedures for standard infection control and in accordance with the policies andprocedures of the Department and the Department of Health and Senior Services.;3.2.7 Upon request by the Department, the contractor shall recommend and document measures for the controland prevention of infectious disease among consumers and Department personnel and shall report such tothe Department.;3.2.8 The contractor shall assist the Department with the design and execution of special research projectsregarding hospital epidemiology and infection control.;3.2.9 The contractor shall regularly review the Departments infection control policy manual in order to evaluatecompliance with The Joint Commission, Medicare/Medicaid, and the Centers for Disease Control. Allrecommended contractor revisions shall be forwarded to the Department Regional Director of QualityManagement or the Regional Executive Officer.;3.2.10 The contractor shall conduct ongoing, routine environmental inspections within Department facilities asdetermined by the Department.;a. The contractor shall recommend control measures in order to ensure consumer comfort andenvironmental cleanliness.
