Specifications

Sealed proposals for the construction of: FORMER LA-Z-BOY WORLD HEADQUARTERS BUILDING DEMOLITION will be received by the City Clerk-Treasurer's Office in the City Hall at 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161, until 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, Monday the 10th day of February, 20 20. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud by the City Clerk at 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, the same day, in the City Council Chambers. The Proposal and Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) / Bid Net Direct at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. Bidders desiring a hard copy of these documents may obtain them from the Department of Engineering, 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161 by making a deposit of FIFTY DOLLARS ($ 50.00 ) for each set of plans and specifications. IF PLANS ARE TO BE MAILED, ADD TWENTY DOLLARS ($20.00). No refunds will be issued for the return of any plans and specifications. Bidders shall note that Prevailing Wage provisions apply to this contract, and are contained within Division J of the contract, and other Federal provisions will also apply as detailed in Division K of the contract and the Appendix. Work will include remediation of hazardous materials prior to demolition as detailed in the Appendix. The City of Monroe reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal or to waive defects in proposals. A bid bond or certified check made payable to the City of Monroe in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid must be deposited by each bidder with his / her bid. No bidder may withdraw his bid within SIXTY (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof, but may withdraw it at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipts of bids. There will be a REQUIRED pre-bid meeting beginning on Thursday, January 23 at 1:30 P.M. in the Third Floor Conference Room at Monroe City Hall. As this meeting is essential to ensuring that bidders understand the full scope of the project, bids may be rejected from bidders that do not send a representative to this meeting. In addition, bidders shall provide reference information found on Page B-6 at this pre-bid meeting or separately no later than January 31 at 4:30 P.M., so that the City may evaluate the contractor's qualifications prior to bid opening to ensure timely awarding of the contract. This pre-bid meeting will be followed by an OPTIONAL walk-through of the site with City staff and / or consultant representatives.
