Specifications
Specifications include, but are not limited to: Fish Contaminant Testing2.2.1 The Contractor shall conduct chemical and lipid testing on fish fillet samples taken from a variety of fish species provided by the Department. Some samples will consist of 5 fillets composited from 5 individual fish of the same species. Other samples will only be made up of 1 fillet or plug.2.2.2 The Contractor shall grind and homogenize the samples.2.2.3 The Contractor shall test the fish fillet samples to determine the chemical contaminant levels in the samples, of the requested chemical(s) of interest. The chemicals that will be requested may include but are not limited to polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs), chlordanes, dioxin, mercury, and heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and zinc.2.2.4 The Contractor shall have reporting limits at or below the requirements listed in Attachment B, which is attached hereto and is incorporated by reference as if fully set forth herein.The Contractor shall be able to report PCBs by the individual congener and sum total of the 209 congeners.The Contractor shall have the ability to report to the World Health Organization (WHO) listing of 12 congeners would be preferable, but not required. Reporting limits for individual PCB congeners should meet the levels listed in Attachment B. It would be preferable that the lab also provide a listing of the toxic equivalent (TEQ) for each congener.
