Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1. The scale shall be NTEP Certified and meet the requirements set forth by the NIST Handbook 44for Class IIIL devices. A current copy of the Certificate of Conformance (COC) shall besubmitted with the bid.1.2. The scale shall be a full electronic design. Mechanical lever systems are not acceptable.1.3. The weighbridge shall be a flat-top, orthotropic design. Tall outside beams that extend above thesurface of the deck are not acceptable.1.4. The weighbridge shall be suitable for installation on an above-grade pier or floating slabfoundation and must provide top access to weight sensors.1.5. The weighbridge shall include removable end covers on each module to allow top access to allcritical cleanout areas.1.6. The weighbridge shall incorporate an internal self-checking system. Checking systems that usebumper bolts, externally fixed check rods, or embedded bumper plates in the end walls are notacceptable.1.7. The scale shall have a full-scale capacity rating of 135 Tons (270,000 lbs.) with a displayedresolution of 200,000 x 20 lbs. in accordance with the NIST, Class IIIL device requirement of10,000 divisions.1.8. The weighbridge modules shall be designed with a minimum concentrated load capacity (CLC)and dual tandem axle (DTA) rating of 35 tons as defined by NIST. When a 35-ton CLC/DTAload is applied at mid-span on a module, the maximum bending stress in the steel shall not exceed20,000 PSI and weighbridge deflection shall not cause the scale to exceed the allowable accuracytolerance as specified by NIST in Handbook 44.1.9. The weighbridge shall have a minimum calculated r factor of 2.051.10. The weighbridge shall be designed to have a span deflection ratio that is not less than 1:900 whenlegal highway loading is applied at mid-span of module.1.11. The weighbridge shall consist of three (3) factory- welded platforms, providing an unobstructedweighing surface of 70' (69'-10.5") long by 11' (10'-10.5") wide.
