Specifications include, but are not limited to:HHA, with the City of Houston as Co-Applicant, has been awarded a Planning Grant underthe US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Choice Neighborhoodsprogram to lead a neighborhood planning process and develop a comprehensive neighborhoodrevitalization plan (Transformation Plan) for the Cuney Homes public housing developmentand the broader Third Ward neighborhood. The specific requirements of the Planning Grantare detailed in the 2020 HUD Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant Notice of FundingAvailability (NOFA) and the grant agreement. Pursuant to the NOFA, the ChoiceNeighborhoods program is focused on three core goals, each of which must be addressed inthe Transformation Plan:2.1.1 Housing - Replace distressed public and assisted housing with high-quality mixedincome housing that is well-managed and responsive to the needs of the surroundingneighborhood.2.1.2 People - Improve outcomes of households living in the target housing related toemployment and income, health, and childrens education.2.1.3 Neighborhood - Create the conditions necessary for public and private reinvestment indistressed neighborhoods to offer the kinds of amenities and assets, including safety,good schools, and commercial activity, that are important to families choices abouttheir community.
