Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wildlifeand Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF) is seeking bids to establish a vendor for surveyresearch services. The selected vendor will design, conduct, analyze, and report theresults of research to identify migration routes and habitat requirements and/or threatsof golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) that winter in Alabama. Prior to a camera trapping(2012 - present) and the telemetry project (2013 - present), there was little information onthe distribution and habitat preferences of golden eagles in Alabama.Data now suggeststhat Alabama is an important overwintering site for golden eagles. We have accumulateda large, complex dataset of camera trap images and telemetry data that has received onlya cursory analysis. Knowing information about winter habitat use and migration pathwayscan help evaluate potential impacts of wind energy development and other land use ormanagement activities on the eastern population of golden eagles.
