2020/2021 Fieldhouse Construction Special Inspection Services

Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Site Observations/Testing: Site testing shall be performed as detailed below:1. Building pad over excavation shall be observed to ensure removal of the undesirable expansiveclay. Excavation shall extend to the desirable clayey sand material approximately 4-5 feet fromthe existing surface.2. Pavement and flatwork over excavation shall be observed to a depth of 3 feet.3. Testing of exposed soils to ensure compaction and moisture content. Any exposed subgradesshall be tested for moisture and density prior to placement of any fill per the GeotechnicalEngineering report included in the construction specifications.4. Pavement areas shall be proof rolled to identify any soft, wet and yielding areas. Proof rollingshall be carried out with a heavily loaded vehicle weighing not less than 50,000 pounds andhaving a single axle load not less than 18,000 pounds and a tire pressure not less than 90 psi. Anyidentified areas shall be reworked by the contractor and then a second proof roll shall becompleted to ensure stable subgrades prior to surfacing. The proof roll shall be carried out within24 hours of surfacing with any additional materials.5. Observation and testing of soil stabilization as per the Geotechnical Engineering report includedin the construction specifications.6. Observation and testing of Class 5 or 6 aggregate base course (ABC) shall be completed as perthe Geotechnical Engineering report included in the construction specifications.In order to provide comparable prices, please assume the following testing frequencies: Utility trenches one moisture/density test every 150 of trench and every 2 of depth, 2 tests atevery valve, 4 tests at every manhole. Over-Excavation one moisture/density test every 500 cubic yards of material. At least 5 moisture/density test tests at the bottom of the over-excavation under the building onceit has been scarified and recompacted. Asphalt Subgrade One density tests every 150 lineal feet in a roadway or every 5,000 squarefeet, each lift. Concrete Subgrade One moisture/density test every 150 lineal feet in a roadway or every 5,000square feet. Curb/Curb & Gutter/Pan Subgrade One moisture/density test per every 150 lineal feet. Sidewalk Subgrade One moisture/density test per every 150 lineal feet.
