Specifications include, but are not limited to:The services to be provided are the removal, hauling and disposal of accumulated sludge from the decant (sludge) basins of the water filtration plant. Please review the Laboratory data from 2004 (Benchmark Analytics) relative to the quality of the sludge. The water treatment process and chemical use does not change from year to year. Should you desire additional or updated testing the Bidder can arrange to sample and test the sludge at their cost prior to the bid. Call Dave Reder at 570-350-1909 to arrange testing. 3. In the past years, previously removed sludge has been taken to a wastewater treatment plant for disposal; however, it is possible that the sludge material from the BCRA water treatment plant may be Land Applied if proper DEP Permits are obtained prior to the bid. 4. Each cleaning of the two (2) sludge basins will occur as follows: A) Tanker truck will hook up to header pipes for one of the basins and remove approximately 6,000 more or less gallons of sludge, using an 8 hour work day, for an approximate total of 24,000 Gallons Per Day or more as directed by the Authority. Last truck must arrive at facility before 2:30 PM. B) The sludge will be transported for disposal to an approved site utilized by the successful bidder. This process will obviously require several trips to remove sludge from one or both of the water plant sludge basins. C) Only one sludge basin can be taken "out of service" at a time. D) All bidders may visit the Water Plant prior to the bid to examine the "header" connection
