Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to:The College of Veterinary Medicine wishes to renovate 8,800 SF of underutilized space in the Veterinary Medical Center. The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges and the American Veterinary Medical Association have asked schools to increase the amount of clinical teaching they provide in a general practice environment. At the same time, dramatic changes in demand for veterinary services will require veterinarians to be more knowledgeable and focused on preventative health care. These are the principles best researched, employed, and taught in a general practice environment. In response to this need, the hospital has implemented a pre-paid animal wellness plan (UPet) for students and employees of the college. The program, implemented in late 2011, has proven popular with rapid growth in the number of patient visits per year. This renovation which includes new exam and general practice/treatment rooms fills this need. The scope includes demolition of existing walls and new construction (HVAC, lighting, flooring, ceilings) to create the new exam and general practice/treatment rooms.
