Specifications include, but are not limited to:It is the intention of the Marana Unified School District (MUSD) to purchase case beverages, vending services for beverages, fresh food service and smarts snacks. The exact quantities and expenditures for 2016-2017 are unknown. The materials and services required for this bid will be based solely on the needs of the MUSD. Vendor(s) will be paid for actual materials and services requested by MUSD and rendered by vendor(s).As an option to District sites, the award of this RFP will be available for services to include, but not limited to, fresh food vending for teachers lounge, administrative lunch room, after school event, and concession stand. Some locations have vendor provided refrigerator/freezer and provide snacks for concession locations.The Marana Unified School District #6 is located in south central Arizona, approximately 16 miles northwest of downtown Tucson, with the Tucson city limits beginning just south of the District boundaries. The District boundaries encompass 550 square miles, making it one of the largest districts in the state. Included within the area served by the District is the incorporated Town of Marana, several unincorporated communities and an ever-increasing number of residential developments. A staff of 1,800 full, part-time, and substitute educational and support employees serve over 12,500 students. The district includes thirteen elementary schools, two middle schools, three high schools and one alternative school. Marana Unified School District participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires all schools to follow the Competitive Food Standards, referred to as Smart Snacks for any food or beverage sold on campus during the school day. Additional information on Smart Snacks in School can be found: USDA Food Nutrition Service has an important tool titled, Smart Snacks Product Calculator developed by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. USDA Food and Nutrition Service has thoroughly reviewed this online tool and has determined it to be accurate in assessing food and beverage product compliance with the federal requirements for Smart Snacks in School. We encourage everyone that is interested in determining if a specific product can be sold under the Smart Snacks requirements to use the calculator. Companies that have an interest in providing their product information to the Alliance for inclusion in a database should contact them directly using the information on the calculator webpage.The link to the Smart Snacks Product Calculator may be found at the following website: nutritional information for each product offered shall be submitted with the proposal response, including complete nutrition label and ingredient listing. If more than one product flavor is offered, nutritional information shall be provided for each flavor. The District reserves the right to request samples of products offered.Collection records
