Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Contractor shall conduct magnetometer, side-scan sonar, and hydrographic surveys within the defined limits of the APE, as identified on Appendix A. The purpose of this work is to discover magnetic and sonar anomalies or targets that represent cultural resources that could be impacted by the proposed boat landing construction at FFHP. The purpose of the hydrographic survey is to develop a bathymetric map of the submerged portions of the Fort Frederick tabby walls. All work, findings and recommendations will be reported on in a final report (here after referred to as report).The survey areas are located along the west bank of the Beaufort River approximately one half mile south of the Ladys Island Bridge in Beaufort, South Carolina (Appendix A). The survey data collection area shall cover the Area of Potential Effect (APE) shown on Appendix A. The APE is approximately 75 meters wide east/west and 175 meters wide north/south. Additionally, if historical research suggests the presence of a shipwreck or other features, or submerged cultural resources are located within 50 meters of the APE, the survey parameters will be increased to include remote sensing data of these sites. Fort Fredericks eastern tabby wall and bastion rest within the Beaufort River and are partially exposed at low tide. These features are located just north of an existing closed boating landing.
