Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Houston wishes to contract with a Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the CitysLong Term Disability Plan. The TPA shall perform administrative services pursuant to theprovisions of the Long Term Disability Plan. The Third Party Administrator (TPA) will be thePlan Administrator and its activities will be under the review and approval of the HumanResources Director or his/her representative.Services specifically required in the management and adjustment of LTD claims submitted by oron behalf of covered City employees are listed below.1. Ensure claims are managed effectively, efficiently and consistently with the scope ofservices.2. Establish and maintain records and books of account for all claims submitted. All suchrecords and books of account shall be kept at a location suitable and accessible to Cityrepresentatives and other authorized individuals.3. Analyze and investigate claims submitted by or on behalf of covered employees inaccordance with the provisions of the Plan, and determine the amount of benefitsproperly payable thereunder, if any. Analysis and investigation are to include both initialevaluation of a claim and ongoing review to verify continued disability.
