Specifications include, but are not limited to:Furnish all qualified personnel, vehicles, equipment, materials/products, supervision, and any necessary incidentals to provide thermal insulation services, on a scheduled or an as needed basis throughout University Grounds, in accordance with all applicable codes, regulations, project drawings, and specifications. b. Projects will include the removal and installation of insulation on a fixed cost basis for new/existing mechanical ductwork and/or piping systems located within ceilings, mechanical spaces, utility tunnels, parking garages, finished, and other occupied locations. 2. Insulation Materials Guidelines: Insulation in Steam and Medium Temperature Hot Water (MTHW) tunnels will be fiberglass rated for 800 degrees Fahrenheit (800 F) with an aluminum jacket or calcium silicate with waterproof 30 pound felt jacketing; applied to fittings with waterproof adhesive and copper or stainless steel wires. Insulation on High Pressure Steam (HPS), pumped condensate, and MTHW in mechanical rooms will be fiberglass rated for 800 F or calcium silicate with a glued canvas jacket. The minimum insulation thickness on HPS and MTHW will be four inches on pipe six inches and above, and three inches on pipe four inches and smaller. Removable insulation blankets with double D-rings and straps will be provided on all steam, condensate, and hot water valves to include fittings that cannot be properly fitted with fiberglass or calcium silicate insulation. 3. Material Requirements: a. Insulation will only be applied to clean dry surfaces. b. Paper laminate jackets will be permanently flame and smoke resistant. c. PVC fitting covers, adhesives mastics, and cements/coatings are to be included in project costs, and must be certified by the insulation manufacturers recommended minimum application coverage per gallon
