Specifications include, but are not limited to:Arlington County will receive bids for the sweeping of five parking garages and approximately 38 miles of paved offstreetbiketrails(8averagewidth)an d r e l a t e d w o r k f o r a five-year period, with two (2) one-year extension options. In performing its work under this contract, the Contractor shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and regulations. [Chapter 26-5(c) of the Arlington County Code: it shall be unlawful for any person to discharge directly or indirectly into the storm sewer system or state waters, any substance likely, in the opinion of the County Manager, to have an adverse effect on the storm sewer system or state waters.] All non-stormwater discharges to the Countys storm drain system, which includes curb and gutter, or any o p e n w a t e r c o u r s e m u s t c o m p l y w i t h t h e c o n d i t i o n s o f t h e C o u n t y s M u n i c i p a l S e p a r a t e S t o r m S e w e r S y s t e m (MS4) Permit and applicable state water quality regulations. Non-stormwater discharges such as wash water shall not be discharged to the Countys storm drain system or surface waters. Appropriate controls must be implemented to prevent any non-stormwater discharges (e.g. wash water, debris) from being discharged into the storm drain system. This includes non-stormwater discharges to floor drains that are connected to the storm drain system. Contractors shall not dump or dispose of anything in a storm drain, street, or stream. Contractors shall employ good housekeeping and pollution prevention measures at work sites at all times. The contractor shall obtain a Water Use Permit issued by Arlington County Department of Environmental Services, Water, Sewer, and Streets Division for use of any water hydrant in the County. The contractor shall secure this permit and pay any costs associated with it, at no cost to the County. Contractor shall have a spill kit readily available on-site to respond to small spills and leaks (5 gallons or less) while on duty. GARAGES The primary work sites are: The garage I-66 is a five (5) level garage with an adjacent in-line skating fenced area. Curbs, walkways and stairs shall be a part of the area covered under this contract. Total garage area to be swept is approximately 280,775 sq. ft
