Specifications include, but are not limited to:The City of Pasadena is seeking Bids from qualified suppliers, hereinafter referred to as the Contractor, to provide Submersible Wastewater Pumps (submersible grinder and non-clog sewage pumps) capable of handling raw unscreened sewage in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications contained in this Invitation for Bid (IFB). This supply contract will be utilized by the Wastewater Maintenance Department on an as needed basis. 2. PERIOD OF CONTRACT The initial term of the agreement shall be for a period of one (1) year from the date of approval by City Council, the right to extend the contract period for two (2) additional, one (1) year periods in 2014 & 2015 upon mutual agreement between the City of Pasadena and the contractor. In the event services are scheduled to end because of the expiration of this contract, the Contractor shall continue the service upon the request of the Purchasing Director. The extension period shall not extend for more than ninety (90) days beyond the expiration date of the existing contract. The Contractor shall be compensated for the service at the rate in effect when this extension clause is invoked by the City. 3. SPECIFICATIONS The specifications listed are to be interpreted as meaning the minimum required by the City. Bidder commits to provide goods that are consistent with the City's specifications in every regard unless an exception is clearly noted. The City may accept a bid subject to an exception if, in the sole judgment of the City, the bid meets or exceeds the City's specifications. If the goods offered do not meet or exceed the City's specifications because of the exception, the City will consider the bid non-responsive. 3.1. Details of construction and materials, where not otherwise specified, are left to the discretion of the manufacturer, provided that only materials and workmanship of the highest quality are to be used, and best commercial practice is adhered to in the fabrication of the unit(s). Except as otherwise specified herein, the manufacturer shall be solely responsible for design and construction of the product to meet the stated performance criteria. 3.2. Pumps must be able to fit all existing Guide Rails and Foot Pieces of equipment already installed in the City of Pasadena wastewater systems. 3.3. The pumps shall be designed for continuous operation without cavitation within the specified operating range. 3.4. Pumps are required to have an integral in cast iron design with vertical, flanged discharge volutes. Volutes with bolt-on elbows are considered not equal. 3.5. Some 3, 4 and 6 pumps shall be able to accept (if required) a lift out lower check valve assembly that attaches to the pump allowing the operator to pull both pump and check valve, without necessity of personnel entering the wet well, to allow inspection, cleaning or maintenance
