Specifications include, but are not limited to:Stony Brook University is seeking a health care planning consultant to provide an overview of the current Student HealthService operations. The project seeks to understand how its existing facility can be optimized to deal with expandingservice and health delivery issues for the near term, and the mid-term before the eventual replacement of the existingclinic with a new facility.SITE DESCRIPTIONStudent Health Services are performed in the Infirmary, a two story building of 27,404 net square feet (32,660 gross) thatwas opened in 1966. The campus population it serves includes 16,000 undergraduates, and a total student population of24,000 in the current year. Approximately 10,000 students now directly live on campus. The services it offers in thatbuilding include: A Medical clinic offering professional service to registered students, including visits to a nurse, nursepractitioner, physician assistant or physician; A GYN clinic offering complete gynecologic exams, breast exams, STD screening and treatment, pregnancytesting and counseling, and a variety of other services; A Laboratory, staffed by experienced licensed medical technologists performing basic routing tests to supportthe Health Services clinics; Immunizations: The Service maintains the immunization records of the student body. Pharmacy: The Student Health Service Pharmacy is staffed by a full-time pharmacist. Prescriptions are filledfor registered students who have paid the health fee, at a substantial savings. The pharmacy will only fillprescriptions written by student health service providers. Dietitian / Nutrition Services: The Dietitian/Nutritionist at the SHS offers individual nutrition counseling,programming in residence halls and talks for the Seawolves sports teams. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers confidential services to enrolled students. Includingcrisis intervention, brief counseling for individuals, couples, and groups; consultation to students, faculty, staff,friends, and parents; medication management; and assistance with referrals to community resources.SCOPE OF SERVICESThe University is seeking a health care planning consultant to assist it in the following areas:Near-Term Improvements: Perform a review of the Clinics current procedures in student health delivery; Compare this operation to other comparable University benchmarks for space efficiency; Review with University officials the trends in student health delivery, responding to regulatory changes, anddevelopment health needs. Suggest ways to improve the efficiency of operations within the existing footprint; Reprogram and provide space plans of some areas that are available for re-purposing such as the old StudentHealth Insurance office; Review IT requirements and suggest ways to improve the efficiency of IT functions;
