Specifications include, but are not limited to: Metro wishes to purchase a two-year supply of Carex aperta plants for use in its Smith and Bybee Wetlands Columbia sedge meadow restoration project. This project is intended to help improve the condition and extent of Columbia sedge meadow where the introduction of reed canary grass has degraded the meadows. The project is also intended to help protect and expand a plant community described as critically imperiled by the Oregon Biodiversity Information Center. Over the course of two years, about 400,000 plugs will be installed over 10 acres consisting of several small sedge meadows and interspersed shrub and Oregon ash habitats. As the plugs grow and mature, the Columbia sedge meadow should expand beyond its current boundaries and become more resilient to the reinvasion by reed canary grass.
