Specifications include, but are not limited to:The American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will provide an avenue for effective communication for the deaf/hard of hearing students in classrooms and school related meetings/activities.Sign Language Interpreter requirements:Vendor Requirements:1. Interpreters shall hold proper credentials and certification as outlined by the State of Texas (BEI) or by theRegistry of Interpreters for the Deaf.2. Vendor must have a minimum of three (3) years experience providing closed captioning services and three (3) years experience working with the State or Higher Education agencies. A minimum or three (3) references is required.3. Fees shall not exceed $55 per hour for service and $55 per hour for travel for requests scheduled during normalbusiness hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.4. Cancellation of services unrelated to natural disasters or other acts of God with less than 24 hour notice shallnot exceed the rate for the original time and duration requested.5. In the event of natural disasters or any other acts of God, war, riots, strikes, or lock-outs that result in anunforeseen cancellation of services, fees for services shall not be charged to UHD.6. Vendor shall send only one interpreter for each request; if more than one interpreter is needed, vendor shallrequest approval from UHD.7. Billing for services shall be sent once per month.
