Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work under this contract shall consist of the furnishing of all labor, material, equipment, supervision, services, and all incidental items necessary to complete one or several separate projects in accordance with the Contract Documents. The intent of the pipe cleaning is to remove foreign materials and build-up from leachate and landfill gas transmission pipes, oil-water separators, and other structures. Pipes shall be restored to a minimum of 95% of the original carrying capacity. Each project under this contract will be defined by the City, and shall consist of complete services necessary to clean the designated pipes and structures, in accordance with the Contract Documents. The designated pipes, oil water separators, and manhole sections shall be cleaned using vacuum, hydraulically propelled, high-velocity jet, or mechanically powered equipment. Selection of the equipment used shall be based on the conditions of pipes at the time that work commences. For each project, a preconstruction meeting will take place to allow viewing of the work area in order to determine the necessary equipment and personnel to complete the work. The equipment and methods selected shall be satisfactory to the Owner. The equipment shall be capable of removing dirt, grease, rocks, sand, and other materials and obstructions from the leachate pipes, gas pipes and manholes. If cleaning of an entire section cannot be successfully performed from one access point, the equipment shall be set up on another accessible location and cleaning again attempted. If, again, successful cleaning cannot be performed or the equipment fails to traverse the entire length, it will be assumed that a major blockage exists and the cleaning effort shall be reported to the Owner. If such an incidence occurs, the Owner may order the cleaning effort be abandoned.
