Specifications include, but are not limited to:Scope of Responsibilities All employees of the Forest Preserves Aquatics Centers are expected to follow the operational procedures, based on their assigned role and responsibilities such as procedures for opening the pool, closing the pool and performing periodic checks throughout the day. Opening Pool Check water level, temperatures, pH (7.2-7.8) and chlorine (.5-5.0 ppm) levels. Check Oxygen tank for proper PSI not to drop below 500, and battery on AED. Check main and baby pool filters (if trained). Check all areas of the poolwalk the whole pool and check for any unusual debris and the clarity of the water. Check deck accessories: ladders, guard stands, etc. to ensure they are in place and have not loosened. Make sure all rescue equipment is in the proper place and in good condition. Check to see if the pool needs vacuuming and/or sweeping. A set schedule that includes vacuuming three times a week and sweeping every day at opening or closing should be followed. Backwash if necessary (only if trained in this area). Clean out all hair catchers, gutter drains and baskets. Make sure the office is clean (e.g., front cashier booth, life guard office and pool managers office.) Check with staff concerning any supplies that need to be picked up: progress reports, toilet paper, etc. Make sure that first aid equipment is complete and in order
