Specifications include, but are not limited to:Low-fat unflavored and flavored milk shall contain not less than 1.0% butterfat. Milk shall not contain more than 30,000 bacteria per cc. at any time after homogenization. No water, preservatives or other foreign matters will be allowed. 3. All milk delivered to the North East Independent School District, both flavored and unflavored, must contain or be fortified with Vitamins A and D. 4. Half-pint milk shall be packaged in pure-pak cartons that can be recycled. 5. All products should be delivered on clean, refrigerated trucks. The temperature of products should be 32-40 upon arrival. All products should be delivered in clean, washable crates or sealed cases. 6. Milk delivery personnel will rotate milk to the serving cooler as directed by the individual school manager. Orders will be given to the creamery daily for the following day's delivery. 7. Failure to deliver milk in time for meal service resulting in the service of a non-reimbursable meal as determined by the USDA School Breakfast or Lunch Program will require the milk company to compensate financially for the loss of funds. 8. All milk, pint and half pint, must have been packed no longer than three (3) days prior to delivery to schools, except on weekends (Monday deliveries) or after holidays, milk must have been packed no longer than four (4) days prior to delivery to schools. Milk must have a minimum shelf life of 10 days upon receipt. 9. Fresh milk packed no longer than four (4) days prior to delivery must be delivered before 7:00 a.m. on the first day back from any holiday break consisting of nine (9) calendar days. The following holiday breaks are in this category. Thanksgiving Break 1 week, Christmas Break 2 weeks, Spring Break 1 week. During these breaks the custodial staff is on duty and school may be accessed to deliver milk prior to the first day of service after the break 10. Escalation Clause : Milk prices may be bid with an escalation clause. The RFP price for each one-half pint carton of milk shall increase or decrease $.001 of the RFP price on each one-half pint container of milk with each cumulative $.20 per CWT change (plus or minus) of the San Antonio, Texas, Class I Raw Milk Price as established by the Texas Milk Marketing Area Federal Milk Order No. 126 from the base price March 2016.
