Specifications include, but are not limited to:Contractor shall complete the dune restoration project in accordance with the following specifications.5.1. Environmental / Project Constraints:5.1.1. Accessibility: The entire beach length is usually accessible by truck and tractor though there aredifficult areas dependent upon the tide and recent storms. The beach environment where thework will occur can become impassable during storms or high tides.5.1.2. Access Points: There are three access points: the west and east ends of the project area, andthe approximate center at the Parks campground.5.1.3. Speed Limit: Environmental restrictions include a 10 mph speed limit on the beach.5.1.4. Equipment: Contractors are restricted to using equipment of such a size and weight that ruttingis less than 6 inches deep. Any ruts created by contractor that are greater than 6 inches in depthmust be filled in and smoothed over by the Contractor at their expense.5.1.5. Supplemental Water: No supplemental water for plantings is available at the Park. Any waterused in the plantings must be brought in by the Contractor.5.1.6. Wildlife: TPWD staff will check the construction area for piping plovers and red knots (shorebirds)prior to the beginning of, and during the work day between July 15th and March 15th (summer,fall and winter seasons). If these birds are observed within 100 feet of the work area, work willneed to be moved to a location elsewhere on the Plant Installation Line, as directed by TPWDstaff. These birds are rarely observed in the Park. TPWD staff will also check the constructionarea for sea turtle nests and will mark them for avoidance. There are no records of sea turtlesnesting at the Park.5.2. Plantings: Sprigs of bitter panicum (Panicum amarum), marsh hay cordgrass (Spartina patens), andrailroad vine (Ipomoea pes-caprae) shall be planted in four rows as per the following specifications.5.2.1. The total number of planting sprigs must be at least 27,400.5.2.2. Four staggered rows of plants shall be installed. The first row placed along the staked plantingline, the second 3 feet behind it, the third 6 feet behind it and the last 9 feet behind the PlantingLine. The Planting Line is approximately 27,400 feet long.
