Specifications include, but are not limited to:PurposeMetra requests sealed bids for the removal, recycling, scrapping and selling for metal / parts, and disposal of retired electronic office equipment, communications equipment, and other electronic equipment for Metra. This initiative aligns with Metras mission that focuses on the removal, redistribution, reutilization, selling, recycling, scrapping, and disposal of retired Metra electronic equipment obtained from Metra in an environmentally responsible manner. The retired computer and other electronic equipment include the following: Computers (Desktop, Tower, Laptop); Hard Drive: 3 Pass DoD Level Sanitization (DoD 5220.22m (E)); Flat Panel LCD/LED Monitors; Desktop Laser Printers; Enterprise Laser Printers; Network Routers; Network Switches; Network Keyboard/Video/Monitors (KVM); Batteries and UPS Units; 1u and 2u Servers; 4u and Larger Servers; Peripherals and Misc. Parts including: cables, mice, keyboards, PDA/Cell Phones, computer parts/brackets, desktop scanners, etc.; and Data Storage Tapes (DLT, LTO2, LTO4,LTO6). 1.2Background and Company Overview The Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation (NIRCRC) is a public corporation also acting under the service mark of Metra and is a unit of local government. Metra is recognized as one of the best commuter rail systems in the United States. We currently operate throughout the six counties of northeastern Illinois. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable, on-time service; to maintain the existing rail assets of the region; to know our customers and promote our service; and to work and speak on behalf of the commuter rail component of the regions transportation network. Metra is responsible for all commuter rail operations in Northeastern Illinois area, with responsibilities for day-to-day operations, fare and service levels, finance, capital improvements, passenger services, safety and system planning. Metra operates 702 weekday trains, over 565 route miles, using a fleet of 142 locomotives, 827 coaches and 171 electric units to carry over 300,000 passengers on an average weekday. Under Metras supervision, commuter rail service is also operated by private carriers, under contract to Metra. These contracts are called purchase of service agreements (PSAs). These private carriers are the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF)
