Specifications include, but are not limited to:The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is seeking bids for refuse containers, collection and disposal services of non-hazardous materials per the below specifications at the following service locations:Traffic Management Center (TMC)/State Highway Emergency Program (SHEP)1412 Shop RoadColumbia, SC 29201Intelligent Transportation Services (ITS) Field Office1408 Shop RoadColumbia, SC 29201The refuse collection and disposal services shall meet or exceed the following:Provide one (1) four (4) cubic yard refuse disposal container with front load waste removal system and a lock bar at the SCDOT, TMC/SHEP location (1412 Shop Road).Provide one (1) eight (8) cubic yard refuse disposal container with front load waste removal system and a lock bar at the SCDOT, ITS Field Office location (1408 Shop Road).Refuse containers shall have leak proof bodies of a type specifically designed for this service. Equipment shall be properly maintained so that covers, doors, latches, lids, lock bars, etc., function in the proper manner. Exterior of refuse containers shall be painted and the painted surfaces maintained to ensure a presentable appearance.The contractor shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of the contents from each refuse disposal container. Each container shall be serviced one day per week, on the same day each week. If the service day falls on a South Carolina State Holiday, contractor shall service the container(s) the next working day after the State holiday. Listing of observed Holidays can be viewed at:http://www.admin.sc.gov/humanresources/employee-information/benefits-and-leave/holiday-leave.Prior to and after each service, it is the responsibility of SCDOT personnel to inspect the container for any damage(s) and to report any damages promptly to the contractor.After each service, the contractor shall return the container to its original position, and ensure that any/all covers, doors, latches, lids, and lock bars are in place prior to leaving the service location.Any refuse spilled by the contractor during pickup shall be swept up and removed immediately prior to leaving service location.All refuse containers used in furnishing service for this contract shall be periodically cleaned and sprayed with insecticide and as required to maintain them in a sanitary condition, and to eliminate unsightly outward appearance, breeding of vermin, insects, and objectionable odors.If it is necessary for the contractor to remove the container(s) from the service location for cleaning and disinfecting, the contractor shall provide a replacement container equal to the container that has been removed and/or provide a suitable container temporarily while the container is being cleaned and disinfected.Any container, which in the opinion of SCDOT personnel is unsightly or unsanitary, shall be replaced or the unacceptable condition corrected within twenty-four (24) hours after notification.
