Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to:4.0 Remove existing underground 4 black iron steam supply piping and fittings that is approximately 36underground. This piping is approximately 80 in length and runs from building 2-267 to building 2-246.4.1 Remove existing underground 2 black iron steam condensate piping and fittings that is approximately 36underground. This piping is approximately 80 in length and runs from building 2-267 to bldg. 2-246.4.2 There is an existing concrete chase way in which these two pipes are installed. The existing concrete chaseway interior dimensions are approximately 40 wide x 20 high. The exterior of the chase way is approximately60 wide x 40 high. The top of the chase way has a concrete cap that is 10 thick and is placed on top of thetwo sidewalls. This cap was made in 5-8 lengths and are sealed where they come in contact with thesidewalls. Under this contract the cap shall be removed to access the piping that is to be replaced. The interiorof the chase way shall be insulated inside the sidewalls with 1 dense Styrofoam. After the piping has beenreplaced and tested 2 of dense Styrofoam shall be placed on top of the sidewall Styrofoam. The concrete capwill then be set on top of the concrete sidewalls. This will insulate the underside of the cap. It shall be sealedfrom leaking where the cap comes in contact with the sidewalls. There shall be 15 mil poly sheeting placed overthe top of the cap that extends at least 24 inches below the top of concrete chase way before backfilling. TheStyrofoam used shall be equivalent to Owens Corning F oamular 150 (15 psi compressive strength) attached isa drawing showing the specifications for this Styrofoam placement.4.3 Contractor is responsible for any damage done to existing chase way during excavation and shall restore thechase way and cap to original condition if there is any damage.4.4 Install new 4 black iron steam supply piping and fittings from the inside of building 2-267 to the inside ofbuilding 2-246 (approximately 80ft.) This piping will be installed inside the newly insulated existing concretechase way between the two buildings. All piping and fittings in the chase way shall be welded. These pipesshall be connected to existing piping to the inside of each building. The piping shall be supported at least every10 feet and at every change in direction in the chase way with roller pipe supports and these supports shall befastened to the bottom concrete of the chase way. All piping shall be sch. 80 seamless with extra heavy weldfittings. Threaded fittings can be used inside the building.4.5 Install new 4 black iron steam condensate piping and fittings from the inside of building 2-267 to the inside ofbuilding 2-246, (approximately 80 ft.) This piping will be installed inside the newly insulated existing concretechase way between the two buildings. The condensate piping will need to be installed through the south wall ofbuilding 2-246 (boiler room) and connect to existing piping in the boiler room. All piping and fittings in the chaseway shall be welded. The piping inside the buildings can be threaded. The piping in the chase way shall besupported at least every 10 ft. And every change in direction with roller pipe supports which shall be fastened tothe bottom concrete of the chase way. All piping shall be sch. 80 seamless with extra heavy weld fittings in thechase way and can be threaded inside the buildings.4.6 All supply and condensate piping that is located inside the concrete chase way shall be tested with 10 lbs. ofair for 30 minutes. The contractor shall notify Steve LeMieur at 320.412.6087 to inspect and observe testwhile in progress. Approval that test has passed will be given by Steve LeMieur or a Minnesota licensedplumber employed at Camp Ripley. If Steve LeMieur is not available calls for inspection can be directed toDean Berckes at 320-616-3007 or main office for assistance at 320-616-3005.4.7 All listed measurements are estimated. Contractor is responsible to verify all final measurements.4.8 The supply piping and condensate piping installed in this chase way shall be insulated with 2 fiberglass pipeinsulation and fitting covers equivalent to Owens Corning SSLII with ASJ max wrap.Cement curb and bituminous road will have to be removed in order to excavate where piping and chase waywork will be done. Concrete curb and bituminous road shall be saw cut in straight lines. All concrete,bituminous and dirt to be removed will be retained by the owner. Contractor will be responsible to load allcement, bituminous and excess dirt into a truck provided by owner which will then be hauled away anddisposed of by owner.4.11 After work is complete, new concrete curb and bituminous road shall be installed as per general practices witha minimum of 12 inches of Class 5 base material and a minimum of 4 inch bituminous. Contractor isresponsible to compact soil and Class 5 base material from the bottom up in 6 lift increments. Contractor isresponsible for purchase and install of all concrete curbing, Class 5 base gravel, and bituminous needed forcomplete repair of roadway.4.12 Any digging in yard/grass area shall be backfilled and finished with 3- 4 black dirt and grass seeded.Contractor is responsible to call Minnesota Gopher State One Call and Camp Ripley Work Order system forin-ground locates before digging at 320-616-3005.
