Specifications include, but are not limited to:Project: The City is requesting proposals to include: fee proposal to provide services to assess the existing library space plan and re-imagine the interior space of the existing Main Library. The Citys vision is to make the Library a source of pride and reflective of a 21st century library. Location: The Main location for the Lynchburg Public Library is at 2315 Memorial Avenue Lynchburg Virginia, the corner of Memorial Avenue and Lakeside Drive. Description: The Library is located in a former Sears retail store in the Plaza Shopping Center. The 36,000 square foot building was renovated for the Library in 1984. Through the years, there have been interior renovations to add a computer lab and to change or modify service desks. In 1987 the private Jones Memorial Library moved into a renovated portion of the second floor. They have a long term lease on the space. In 2015, the addition of a Story Time Room was completed which added 570 square feet of additional childrens program space. General Scope of Services Required: The Library is seeking the services of an architectural firm with expertise and demonstrated ability in re-imagining libraries. The main purpose of this RFP is to request primarily interior design, space planning, and architectural services to develop a conceptual /schematic interior design that is reflective of a 21st century library. A phased implementation schedule should be an option. Conduct and facilitate at least one meeting with Library Staff and patrons. Project should include (but not be limited to) the following: 1.Re-design entry way for safety and accessibility. This includes exterior canopy that is currently unsafe and crumbling; after hours book drops that suit the space and are functional for staff and patrons 2.New carpet or flooring, possible raised floor for wiring flexibility 3.LED lighting 4.Move or re-design all service points 5.Increase number of public restroom facilities 6.Paint/paper all walls
