Specifications include, but are not limited to:Install sub-slab depressurization radon mitigation system (RMS) with fan. Following installation, ensure that radon levels arebelowtheEPAsrecommendedactionlevel o f 4 p i c o c u r i e s p e r l i t e r ( p C i / L ) . C i t y o f M i n n e a p o l i s w i l l p r o v ide follow up testing via two side-by-side short term activated charcoal kits. Prepare building floors plans, and show suction point(s) and routing of the RMS piping to the building exterior. Provide additional construction details such as supporting systems, attachment methods and surface penetration. RMS piping can be run through either interior or exterior of home. Ensure that vent pipes are installed so that any rain water or condensation within the pipes drains downward into the ground beneath the slab. To ensure radon gas is thoroughly expelled and not liable for re-entry, the point of discharge shall be such that it meets the following requirements: (1) be above eave of roof, (2) be ten feet or more above ground level, (3) be ten feet or more from any window, door or other opening into conditioned spaces of the structure that is less than two feet below the exhaust point, and (4) be ten feet or more from any opening into an adjacent building. All openings around radon vent pipe penetrations or openings in slab of structure shall be sealed in an appropriate air- tight manner. Openings include but are not limited to; Sump pits, slabs or foundation walls, perimeter channel drains or other cracks or openings in slabs or interior surfaces of the walls. If a sump pit is to be sealed, the cover shall be custom cut of a durable, clear plastic and made air-tight using non-permanent method such as silicone caulking material. RMS shall include a monitor of system performance so that system failure can be noticed
