Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The total call volume for the MBTA Dispatch Center is approximately 30,000 calls dispatched for service and an additional 70,000 CAD entries per year with the peak periods being weekdays between 1 PM and 8 PM. The distribution of the types of calls is: 9-1-1 Priority 1, 2, 3 Calls: 30 % of incoming/outgoing Administrative/Non-Emergency: 70% of incoming/outgoing Dispatching The MBTA is the primary dispatch point for all calls relating to incidents in MBTA stations and MBTA owned bus stops and responses to incidents involving MBTA vehicles and all incidents on MBTA property. The MBTA Transit Police required objective is that all Emergency calls requiring service be answered within ten (10) seconds at a minimum of ninety-five (95%) percent of the time, and processed, and dispatched within sixty (60) seconds ninety (90%) percent of the time. Non-emergency calls are required to be answered, processed and dispatched at the same level. The communications personnel will be responsible for answering emergency calls which must be properly processed, including the dispatching the appropriate response of personnel and equipment to the scene of police incidents, accidents and other emergencies, Answering non-emergency calls and screening to route to the appropriate person or office.
