Specifications include, but are not limited to:. The scope of services for this project is shown below. The City invites responders to be innovative in approach as well as optional tasks for consideration as part of the proposal.. The City desires to enhance the urban environment in Durham through the creation of newworks of public art in the City. Candidates may include private for-profit and not-for-profitorganizations with projects to commission art for public places on public or private land; andartists offering works of art for acquisition by the City for display on City property. Projectsshould satisfy the goals of the Resolution Establishing a Public Art Policy, as passed by theDurham City Council on November 21, 2011. The project should include the following:A to-scale, full-color drawing illustration for three, originally-designed banners made ofan approved mesh material that lets in enough light, as required by the City of DurhamsTransportation Department.The surface to which the banners will be attached is concrete horizontal bands that formthe structure of the garage.The banners should attached to the garage such that the banners hang vertically, withappropriatehardwaredistributedthroughoutthatpreventsthebannersfrombeingmovable in windy conditions.Banners should be colorful and artful, with a creative theme or other artistic focus.Thedesign should be suitable and acceptable for public viewing of all ages.Materials should be timeless and consistent with an outdoor application, and resistant torust, water-damage, and other weather-related conditions. Applicant should explain how the banners will be protected from said elements.If aesthetically-consistent with artists vision, the banners should be consistent with oneanother,whetheritbeonevisualimagespreadoutoverthreebanners, or three independently-designed murals that speak to a common theme.
