Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Maryland State Department of Education/Juvenile Services EducationSystem (MSDE/JSES) is soliciting offers from qualified applicants to provide expert servicesassociated with the provision of educational tutoring, social work services and staff support.Background: The Maryland State Department of Education was mandated in Chapter 53 ofthe Acts of the General Assembly of 2003 to assume the responsibility for the juvenile educationprograms in the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) facilities. The detention centers aredesigned to provide temporary, short-term (1-30 days) stays for youth who are awaitingadjudication and placement. The treatment centers are designed to provide long term (6-9months) care. All students with disabilities serviced in MSDE/JSE educational schools areprovided with a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), in accordance with theIndividuals with Disabilities Education ACT of 2004, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of2015 and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR).Nature of Work: The contractor shall work primarily with the MSDE/JSES Special EducationCoordinator and/or the school-based Lead Special Educator to provide tutoring, social workservices and staff support for up to twenty hours per month.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide educational tutoring services/academic supportAssessments, including report preparationIndirect therapy, (e.g. consultations with teachers, parents, medical personnel, etc).Participation in mediation/due process hearingsPrepare and submit intervention summary in accordance to established criteria for eachcontact madePrepare and submit written progress monthly logs on student servicedDevelop typewritten/computer reports in accordance with established criteria on studentsreferred by the IEP teamAttend students IEP meetings in person or by phoneAssume responsibility for travel to the assigned facilityCommunicating with families/guardians per IEPUsing and completing appropriate MSDE/JSES forms only, such as IEPs, caseload logs,workload study forms and progress repor
