Specifications include, but are not limited to:A Health Sciences building on the Marietta campus of Chattahoochee Technical College would allow theCollege to expand their Medical Technology programs. In the fourth most populous County in the State, themain campus has no health programs because it has no building in which to offer the Health programs, and thissignificantly inhibits the Colleges response to the needs of students as well as the local health care industry.Roughly a third of the Colleges students are interested in or enrolled in some aspect of the health careprograms, and the College addresses this as best it can by utilizing parts of other campuses; this lack of a mainfocus on the main campus, however, inhibits its response. Chattahoochee Technical College serves over11,000 students through eight campus locations and on-line learning. Since the merger of the three colleges in2009, the number of students enrolled in pre-requisite courses for Health Sciences or one of the collegesHealth Sciences programs has grown to represent almost a third of the colleges total enrollment. In FallSemester 2012, 4,650 students took classes at the colleges Marietta Campus. Of these, 1350 students (29%)were taking pre-requisite courses for one of the colleges Health Sciences programs. These students musttravel to one of the colleges other campuses because the Marietta Campus does not currently have the spaceto house any of the colleges Health Sciences programs. In addition, a new building would give the college anopportunity to expand the use of technology in its Health Sciences programs. The college would be able torelocate the Associate of Science Nursing program to the Marietta campus in a state of the art simulation lab.The simulation lab is currently located at the colleges Austell campus where it has about 50% of the space itneeds to effectively utilize the equipment the college has purchased. The TCSG State Board has approved forthe college to start an Associates Degree program in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology. There are no ENDTprograms in the State and only five accredited programs in the United States. Most importantly, the Mariettacampus serves the most densely populated portion of the colleges service area, and there are multipleprominent health care providers in the immediate area. Over the next 20 years the demand for well trained, certified and licensed health care practitioners will increase by 20-25%. Chattahoochee Technical Collegeneeds to be prepared to meet the demand to supply these workers.
