Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project involves the superstructure replacement and associated roadway work for thePhillips Bridge (Berks County Bridge No. 39B) which carries Grove Road over Irish Creek inCentre Township, Berks County. The existing structure is a 69-6 single-span non-compositeadjacent prestressed concrete box beam bridge, which has a curb-to-curb width of 19-10. Theexisting superstructure is made up of eight (8) non-composite adjacent prestressed concrete boxbeams and shows significant signs of deterioration including longitudinal hairline cracks withspalling, section loss, and evidence of active moisture infiltration, indicating the necessity forreplacement of the beams. This project includes, but is not limited to: Removal of existing bridge superstructure and modifications to the beam seat portion ofabutment stem wall. Construction of new 69-6 single-span prestressed concrete spread box bridgesuperstructure, consisting of four (4) beams and including beam seat modifications, newelastomeric bearings, a composite reinforced concrete deck, and crash-worthy concretebarriers. Construction of roadway work along both approaches including reinforced concreteapproach slabs and full depth pavement replacement matching the existing 19-0 widecartway and minor milling and pavement overlay, approach guide rail and rock riprap forprotection. Installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment pollution control measures Re-grading, seeding and mulching to restore disturbed areasAccess to adjacent properties must be maintained at all times. Temporary rockconstruction entrances shall be installed as needed to prevent dirt and sediment from beingtracked onto public streets. Property owners must be notified prior to any work to be done ontheir property to coordinate necessary access requirements. The Contractor shall clearly indicateon all correspondence with property owners that this work is a County Project. The countyshall be notified prior to any coordination with property owners and copied on allcorrespondence.
