Specifications include, but are not limited to:2.1 Medications 1. All medication will be of the highest quality. 2. Medications will be dispensed in their generic form unless the physician writes dispense as written 3. Wherever possible medications will be supplied in hermetically sealed blister packages or in seven (7) day multi-dose strips. Medication packaging will contain all regulatory required labeling. The option of short supply, i.e. seven (7) day supply as allowed by insurance companies as well as for private pay and medications that are the financial responsibility of the facility. 4. Medications will be delivered at least once a day, Monday through Saturday. 5. In some unusual instances where the pharmacy provider cannot supply a medication in a timely manner, the pharmacy provider must have an alternative provider in place who will supply the medication within 4 hours. 6. Back-up boxes of medications will be supplied to the Home, in the form Pyxis Medstations 7. Medications will be ordered on demand vs a monthly medication chart change over. 2.2 Administrative 1. The pharmacy provider will bill the resident or his insurance company if the resident has a payer classification other than Medicare A or VA service connected disability. 2. The vendor will bill the Home for residents with the payer classification of Medicare A or VA service connected disability. 3. Other charges must be at the express approval of the Homes administration. 4. The pharmacy provider and the Home will establish an approved formulary. 5. Credits will be issued for return medications. 6. Pharmacy provider will be the primary contact for any insurance companys requests for prior approvals or other similar tasks. Describe experience and process. 7. Pharmacy provider must describe their ability and the scope of any available in-service education for the Homes staff.
