All rescue personnel shall wear the proper safety shoes.210742 MS4717-TW Permit-Required Confined Space Stand-by Rescue Team (210742) Page 625 February 2016Unless specific chemicals, coatings, vehicular traffic, or internal combustion operated equipments is being used near the worksite to perform a task, it is not likely that a source(s) of atmospheric hazards will exist. The fumes and gases from chemicals and coatings being applied on-site can reduce the levels of oxygen in the space. With traffic or internal combustion operated equipment, there is a probability, albeit low, that fumes or vapors may migrate into the worksite from activities occurring near the openings for entry or exit (i.e.: exhaust from machinery, vapors from painting or paint removal, or fumes from welding operations). Furthermore, if there is limited air movement within the worksite, the fumes and vapors will remain and accumulate over time. Due to the potential impact of these atmospheric hazards, as well as others not listed here, the worksites that meet the definition of a confined space may be classified as PRCSs. For excavations and trenches, groundwater and rainwater may seep into and accumulate in the worksite and could compromise its strength and integrity. Excavations and trenches near traffic may, albeit low, experience vibrations and loading that could also lead to instability in the trench walls
