Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS), Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) seeks to fund pilot Opioid Urgent Care Centers (OUCC), located in geographic areas in the state with high incidences of fatal and non-fatal overdoses. BSAS seeks proposals from urgent care centers with a demonstrated history of working with people with substance use disorders and have a Qualified Service Organization Agreement (QSOA) with an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and an Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) program. Urgent care is a category of walk-in clinics focused on the delivery of ambulatory care in a dedicated medical facility outside of a traditional emergency room. Urgent care centers primarily treat injuries or illnesses that require immediate care, but not serious enough to require an ER visit. For this service, urgent care centers are programs that can provide walk-in medical clearance, addiction assessment, triage, and facilitated referrals to inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment.
