Specifications include, but are not limited to:Sound Transit seeks a firm to provide Software Development, System Integration, and related servicesfor development, enhancement, maintenance, and operations of the Sound Transit Open Transit Data(OTD) program.Under Sound Transits Research and Technology (R&T) program, Sound Transit maintains the OpenTransit Data program with its partner agencies to expand the information and services available to theregions transit riders. This program collects static and real-time data from the regions transitagencies, processes it, and makes it available to application developers for use in their websites,mobile applications, and other tools. Sound Transit intends to continue improving the services includedwithin the OTD program. OTD is based on an open source platforms and it is the intent to continueusing this open source platforms to the extent feasible, using an Agile development approach. Anydevelopment expanding on an open source system is intended to be redistributed under the governingpublic license. Sound Transit will retain an unrestricted license to any and all code created under thiscontract. No proprietary libraries or frameworks shall be used without the permission of SoundTransit..III. Description of the Existing System:The OTD Engine is a multi-layered, n-tier solution consisting of numerous applications andcomponents. At its core is an API layer and a data services layer. Feeding the data services layer isa series of adapters which manage the collection and possible conversion of data from the varioustransit data sources. The data sources include integrations with partner Agencies, internal services,and could be in a variety of forms over time, including FTP of flat files, web services integrations, andintegrations with popular Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) packages. The OTD Engine alsointegrates with the Open Trip Planner (OTP). OTP includes a data layer and service layer thatcombine to generate trip planning advice for the service's consumers, such as the Sound Transitwebsites (mobile and desktop)
