Specifications include, but are not limited to:Scope of ServicesPaint and Thermoplastic Removal: This includes all supplies, equipment, and labor necessary to remove paint and thermoplastic pavement markings from the roadway via grinding.Long Line Thermoplastic Installation: This includes all materials, equipment and labor necessary to install new or refresh old 4 pavement lines, including both white and yellow markings. Road segments longer than mile will be considered long line.Short Line Thermoplastic Installation: This includes all materials, equipment and labor necessary to install new or refresh old 4 pavement lines, including both white and yellow markings. Road segments shorter than mile will be considered short line.Skip Lines: 4 skip lines will be paid for by the total length of the segment to be marked, including both the skip lines themselves and the lengths between skip lines. Skip lines will be paid as either a long line thermoplastic or short line thermoplastic installation depending on the road segment length as was described in their respective sections.Hand Placed Thermoplastic Installation: This includes all materials, equipment and labor necessary to install new or refresh old pavement markings. Includes, but is not limited to, turn arrows (1,2, and 3 direction), railroad crossing symbols, stop bars, gores, cross walks, and word messages such as ONLY and STOP AHEAD.Traffic Control: All traffic control needed to perform any and all work done under this contract will be included in the price of the installation at each location. Traffic control shall also be in accordance with 2009 MUTCD (http://www.mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/), the current SCDOT Standard Drawings (http://www.scdot.org/doing/sd_book.aspx), and Hourly Restrictions for Lane Closures ( http://www.scdot.org/doing/publications_Traffic.aspx#hourly).Mobilization: All work listed on a single order is to be completed during a single mobilization, and each work order will result in a single mobilization payment.At locations where thermoplastic markings already exist and are just being refreshed, the cost of removing the existing thermoplastic markings is to be included in the items unit price.Personnel RequirementsAttire: The minimum dress code for Contractors employees when performing work on this contract shall include a shirt with sleeves of some sort, long pants, work appropriate closed toed shoes, SCDOT approved safety vests and hardhats at all times.Safety and Training: Safety is the responsibility of the contractor. All equipment will be operated safely as per manufacturer recommendations and in accordance with all applicable codes, laws, ordinances. The Contractor is responsible for assuring that equipment operators and workers are qualified to perform all job duties safely and to safely operate any mechanized equipment used.OSHA Regulations: The contractor shall be responsible for the safety and health of all workers on the job and shall comply with all applicable provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.Scheduling of ServiceBeginning Work: Work is to begin within 14 days of written notification or a $150 per day penalty will be assessed on the following payment to the contractor for each day over 14 days. Once work begins, the contractor cannot suspend work without a $150 per day penalty being assessed unless permission from the Resident Maintenance Engineer or his designee is given beforehand.Daylight Restrictions: Some high volume roadways and intersections will have day time restrictions, and may require night work. Contact the Greenville Maintenance office to schedule work. SCDOT reserves the right to alter the working schedule for any reason as deemed appropriate by the Resident Maintenance Engineer or his designee.
