Specifications include, but are not limited to:SCOPE OF WORK/SPECIFICATIONSA.BRIDGE DECK EXPANSION JOINT REPLACEMENTS1.The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, equipment and supervision and materials as necessary for all expansion joint replacements. SCDOT will identify locations and all work to be performed under the direction of SCDOT as specified herein. The Contractor shall review all locations with the SCDOT Representative to determine which type joint system to be used. Removal and disposal of material shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.2.The Contractor shall comply with AASHTO Specifications, or accepted industry standards for any specific items not addressed herein or elsewhere in the Contract Documents.3.Prior to start of any expansion joint replacements, the Contractor and SCDOT Representative shall jointly inspect the site to observe and document the pre-construction condition of this site, existing structures, and facilities.4.Mobilization: All work listed on a single order is to be completed during a single mobilization, and each work order will result in a single mobilization payment.B.MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS:1.Silicon Joint Replacement - Contractor shall remove the existing expansion joint, clean the area in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, and place the silicon expansion joint in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. The expansion joint shall be replaced with the materials stated in this contract.All materials shall be delivered unopened in their original containers bearing the manufacturers label, date of manufacture, batch number, trade name brand, and quantity. Sufficient material to perform the entire expansion joint shall be on hand prior to removing the existing expansion joint. Stored materials may be inspected prior to their use and shall meet the requirements of these provisions. Each shipment of repair material shall be accompanied by Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and a certificate of compliance certifying that the materials conform to the requirements of these provisions.The repair material shall be one of the following approved products:Joints less than or equal to one (1) inch in width:Sealant - Dow 888 or approved equalBaysilon 960 (silicon based) or approved equalJoints greater than one (1) inch in width:Sealant - Dow 902 (silicon based) or approved equalThe entire cost for the silicon expansion joint replacement including but not limited to labor, maintenance, equipment, tools, and incidentals will be included in the unit prices for Silicon Joint Replacement.V-Seal Expansion Joints - Contractor shall remove the existing expansion joint, clean the area in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, and place the V-Seal expansion joint, or approved equal, in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. The expansion joint shall be replaced with the materials stated in this contract or an approved equal.
