Specifications include, but are not limited to:The purpose of this RFQ is to purchase water sampling instrument, Nitrate Sensor for the Department of Ecology, Environmental Assessment Program (EAP) in accordance with RCW 39.26.BACKGROUND:EAPs marine flight program wants to purchase a Satlantic SUNA V2 nitrate sensor or equal. The sensor will allow for a complete vertical profile of nitrate. CTD profiles of the Long-Term-Marine-Monitoring Program show significant variability of variables with depth. While continuous vertical profiles provide excellent information on water properties associated with identifiable water masses, Ecologys collection of discrete bottle samples for nitrate (0, 10 and 30 m) at predetermined depth often fail to collect important maxima in the water column (e.g. layers). This results in large uncertainties in concentration estimates of dissolved nitrogen in surface waters. We propose to include nitrate sensors for continuous nitrate profiles and to use depth integration for discrete samples in lieu of three discrete depth. MMU time-proven approach to Chl a using in situ fluorometer sensors in combination with discrete grab samples allow for a unique improvement and site specific calibration, additional QC of sensor data better bulk measurements while preserving information on both maxima and minima and vertical structure.Having a complete vertical profile of nitrate at all our stations will provide:Vertical representativeness of nitrate samples.Faster data availability from sensor for condition updates (lab samples are months behind).Provide information of nitrate maxima minima and association with identifiable water masses and support information on nitrate transport in Puget Sound.Extend nitrate information from 0-30 to full depth (currently no nutrient information is collected >30m).This sensor is designed to be integrated into our SBE25plus Seabird sensor. It will seamlessly be powered via a auxillary serial input channel.DELIVERY TIME:
