Specifications include, but are not limited to:Design and Construct new Weighing Operations and Administration Building based on the 2015 Ridgefield POE Predesign study. Demolition of the existing building is to be included in the estimate. Work to include the design and construction of an additional inspection pit in the existing Truck Inspection Building. This project is a Federally Funded Preservation Project. DES, the Consultant and Owner will be partnering with the Washington State Department of Transportation. The expected bid date is fall 2016. The location for this work is 29317 Interstate 5 North, Ridgefield WA 98642. The MACC (maximum allowable construction cost) is $1.9 million. This facility is the Commercial Vehicle Port of Entry located on northbound Interstate 5 at Mile Post 15. It operates 24 a day, 7 days a week and is open 360 days a year. The operational focus is vehicle weights, vehicle loading, transportation equipment, credentials for the driver, and vehicle and trucking ownership. Over 1,000,000 trucks a year that pass this location. There are 20 staff who work at this location utilizing two buildings to manage that intent - a Weighing Operations building built in 1969 and a Truck Inspection Building constructed in 1999. To manage the volume of vehicles a sorting tool a Vehicle Identification and Weigh-in-Motions system is utilized. It Pre-Weighs and verifies vehicle credentials. Also is located about mile prior to the facility navigates potential violators into the facility for operator review and inspection. In the Weighing Operations building, staff use static scales weigh to each vehicle, to perform visual inspection of vehicle condition and interact with drivers to validate vehicle, ownership and driver credentials. The Inspection building is utilized to perform extensive vehicle condition assessments
