Specifications include, but are not limited to:The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals to establish multiple contracts for the purchase of network wireless and wired hardware and related services for the Commonwealth and all public bodies as defined by 2.2-4301 and referenced by 2.2-4304 and 2.2-2012 of the Code of Virginia and private institutions of higher education that are listed at: Services requested may include hardware installation, configuration, design, warranty, maintenance services and repair.The goal of this RFP is to obtain current market data to assist VITA in determining the most efficient way to meet the requirements of this project.As part of Commonwealths K-12 Wi-Fi Upgrade Program, The Virginia Department of Education (DOE) would like to leverage $123M in funding from the FCC E-Rate program to provide wireless and wired network hardware and related services to every classroom in every school in the state of Virginia over the next four years. The State of North Carolina conducted a similar statewide program in early 2015 which has generated approximately $40M in sales to date.DOE is focused on providing high-density, high-throughput, reliable, Wi-Fi access to every K-12 student (approx. 1,279,773 students) in all schools that have opted to participate. Each school will be unique in its specific requirements, as each school has varying levels of installed access points and wired infrastructure. Schools may require access points, Ethernet switches, design services, installation services and configuration services. The exact brand and number of devices and services will be selected by the individual Local Education Agencies (LEAs) from the contracts resulting from this RFP.It is VITAs desire to establish multiple manufacturer catalog contracts including but not limited to Adtran, Aerohive, Cisco, Extreme, HP/Aruba and Meraki OR EQUIVALENT hardware with the breadth to span a broad range of network wireless and wired hardware and related services. It is VITAs intent at this time, to make multiple awards per brand.For the purposes of this RFP, Supplier (or Bidder or Offeror) shall mean any entity who submits a proposal in response to this RFP.Suppliers may propose any brand of network hardware. When offering a particular brand, Suppliers should offer that brands complete catalog of network hardware and related services. Suppliers may propose one or more brands but must fill out a separate price sheet (Appendix C) for each brand to be considered for an award.
